STATE OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE,
HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD,
HANAPEPE, KAUAI,
JOB NO. CA-2826
The items listed hereinafter are hereby made a part of the
contract for the above mentioned project and shall govern the work taking
precedence over previously issued contract documents governing the items
mentioned. Receipt of this addendum is
to be acknowledged on page OF-10 of the proposer s packet.
The bid opening date has been
changed to June 30, 2008 at 2:00 PM.
The following
are questions and answers from the walkthrough that was held on June 4, 2008.
1. On plans page A-0, scope of work, please
revise keynotes section 4A to read: Replace all existing ceiling tiles and wire
hangers. All metal tracks, supports,
associated items and light fixtures are to remain.
2. Contractor shall be responsible for
supporting existing light fixtures and mechanical ducts while roof is being
replaced. Ceiling grid shall be
supported by existing/new roof framing.
3. There are additional, complete plans
available for pick up at - Engineering Office, State of Hawaii, Department of Defense, located in
Building 306-A, Room 228, 3949
Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, Hawaii.
4. Q.
Insulation found on roof panels and other structural steel associated
with the roof. Is the purpose of this
insulation for fire proofing or to assist in the climate control of the
interior of the building? Is there a
requirement to reinstall insulation?
Fire/Building code etc.
A. The fire proofing that is
delaminating from the existing roof framing must be replaced as it is a
building code issue.
5. Q.
Will the building be vacated prior to start of work?
A.
Yes.
6. Government states that there is no known lead
or asbestos located in the building.
7. Q.
Does the exisiting fiberglass roll insulation need to be replace?
A.
Yes.
8. Do you require new plywood sheathing throughout the entire roof?
A.
Yes.
9. There are some areas that may need large
amounts of spall repair, is this to be included in the scope of work?
A.
Yes.
10. Please confirm that the new gutter and downspouts
are to be copper as shown on drawings.
If copper, is it unpainted? Specs
refer to gutter and downspout material as sheet metal.
A.
Yes, unpainted copper.
11. Please clarify sheet S-1 and the requirement
for new purlins.
A.
New purlins shall be installed between the existing purlins as shown on
sheet S-1.

SEALED BIDS for furnishing labor,
materials, tools and equipment for " HANAPEPE REROOFING & RENOVATIONS, HANAPEPE ARMORY,
STATE OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD, HANAPEPE,
KAUAI, JOB NO. CA-2826" will be received in the Engineering Office,
Department of Defense, State of Hawaii, located in Building 306-A, Room 228,
3949 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, Hawaii, up to 2:00
P.M. on June 23, 2008
and will then and there be publicly opened and read aloud. Proposals may also be mailed to Department of
Defense, State of Hawaii,
3949 Diamond Head Road,
Honolulu, HI, 96816-4495, ATTN: HIENG. Bids received
after the time and date fixed for opening will not be considered.
Proposed work consists of, but not limited to the following:
reroof, exterior
painting, partial interior painting, miscellaneous improvements and repairs for
the armory building.
The
estimated cost is between $800,000
and $1,500,000.
A
Pre-Bid conference/site visit will be held at the Hanapepe Armory on June 4,
2008 at 9:30am. Please call MSG Yale Alama at
672-1544 before 3:30 P.M. on June 3, 2008, to register for the conference/site
visit. It is strongly recommended, but
not required, for all interested bidders, subcontractors and union
representatives to attend.
A
notice of Intent to Bid must be filed at least ten (10) days prior to the bid
opening for a bid to be considered. The
Intent to Bid may be mailed or hand carried to the above address or faxed to
733-4235.
All
requests for clarification of bidding documents and/or specifications must be
received in the office listed above, in writing, 14 days prior to bid
opening. Questions may be faxed to
808-733-4235 Attn: Cathy.
Bona
fide bidders may obtain copies of applicable specifications and bidding
documents at the above-named office. Neighbor Island bidders may call 733-4041 to have
a copy of the specifications and bidding documents mailed to them. If prospective bidders obtain copies of the
bid proposal from sources other than the Contracting and Engineering Office,
then bidders are responsible to register by sending their company name,
address, telephone and facsimile number, and email address via facsimile at
733-4235
Bidders
are encouraged to register on the new Hawaii Compliance Express web site for
all tax clearances by going to http://vendors.ehawaii.gov
and registering there.
Bidders
are responsible for checking for any addenda for this project. The addenda will be posted on the State &
County Procurement Notices web site under the project name at:

Due to
the nature of the work contemplated bidder must possess a valid State of Hawaii Contractor's
license in the appropriate classification.
