Description
Sources Sought Notification for Design Phase and Supply Phase of a Gravimetry Furnace for Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF).
Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC (MOX Services) is seeking suppliers/subcontractors with experience supplying Gravimetry Furnaces. The furnace to be acquired will support the construction of a Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS). The furnace is Quality Level 4 (QL-4) and will be purchased under a Supply Subcontract.
The Gravimetry Furnace will be used for Pu content determination in plutonium oxide powder samples and is designed to be installed in a sealed enclosure fitted with gloves, i.e. glovebox. Each sample (1.5 g) is put in a crucible, weighed and then placed in the furnace where it is calcined at two (2) consecutive heating steps: 950 degrees celsius and between 1,200 degrees celsius and 1,250 degrees celsius.
The Gravimetry Furnace is made up of the following components, all installed in the glovebox:
- One vertical tubular furnace
- One moving plate for supporting basket and closing furnace
- One guided device for basket loading/unloading into the furnace
- One removable basket supporting four (4) crucibles
- One control unit
Interested parties are to submit Pre-Qualification Packages for the Company or Team as a whole. Companies that team shall have a Prime Supplier/Subcontractor designated. The Prime Supplier/Subcontractor will be the direct interface between the Team and MOX Services. Team Pre-Qualification packages shall be written to cover the Prime Supplier/Subcontractor and key teaming Companies and shall be submitted by the Prime Subcontractor.

Companies or Teams that have a current MOX Services approved Pre-Qualification package on-file need not submit another package, unless the submitted package requires updating.
A Letter of Interest to submit a proposal from the Company or the Team Prime Supplier/Subcontractor shall be emailed to Lisa Joyce at ljoyce@moxproject.com. The Letter of Interest shall state that the Supplier/Subcontractor has a Pre-Qualification package on-file with MOX Services or that the Pre-Qualification package will be forwarded. Letters of Interest are due by 4 PM EST on 20 Mar 2008, with Pre-Qualification packages submitted by 4 PM EST on 17 Apr 2008.
This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), nor shall it be construed as an announcement for the issuance of future RFPs.
