Synopsis:
Added: Jul 09, 2008 7:52 pm
The intent of this project is to supply equipment, equipment operators, a laborer, and certified weed-free straw to restore a stream segment that was impacted by the Granite Fire of 1973. The site proposed for treatment is Long John s Meadow on the Groveland Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest. The rock (gradation of 6 inches to 3 foot rock, emphasizing the 1 foot to 2 foot size class) and fill (gravel, sand, silt, and clay) needed for the planned project may be obtained at Jawbone Quarry. An excavator and loader would be needed at the quarry to stockpile all needed rock and fill prior to project implementation. Approximately 100 yd3 of additional fill has been stockpiled near the intersection of 2N24 and 2N24A, and 100 yd3 of fill has been stockpiled along 2N08Y near Jawbone Quarry. A total of 1,500 yd3 of fill and 280 yd3 of rock are needed to complete the project. A water truck, filled at the Cherry Lake boat launch, would wet the fill at the quarry and the loader would be used to stir the water into the piles of fill. Additional wetting of the fill may occur along 2N78. The loader would stay on site at the quarry to load the dump truck, while the excavator would move onto Long John s Meadow.
