The government intends on awarding a sole sourceacquisition for geophysical analysis software fromHampson-Russell, a commercial seismic explorationsoftware development corporation.. The BIA has amandated responsibility to provide technical advice toIndian mineral owners who want to develop oil and gasresources on their lands. BIA accomplishes thisthrough careful and accurate data analysis ofgeophysical data as part of BIAs compliance with theIndian Mineral Development Act of 1982 (Public Law97-382, 25 USC 2106) and the Energy Policy Act of2005, Title V Indian Energy (Public Law 109-58, 25USC 3502).Hampson-Russell will provide software media, licensing, and maintenance for their Emerge andStrata software packages. Emerge estimates variouspetrophysical rock properties from well logs andprocessed seismic data and interpolates thoseproperties in a horizon-consistent sense betweenestablished control points. Strata performs seismicinversion of processed seismic data to estimateacoustic impedance and other properties and thusserves as a source for part of the informationrequired by Emerge.
Additionally, several invaluable utility programs areincluded which serve to integrate seismic and welldata with the results. These include comprehensivewell and seismic databases, surface and subsurfacemapping, 2D and 3D automated horizon picking, 3Dvisualization, synthetic seismogram generation, andothers. The modular nature of the package provides forseamless integration of current programs (Emerge andStrata) as well as any additional modules which may bepurchased in the future.
