Description
DESCRIPTION:     This project consists of the design, fabrication and delivery of a 60' long     6'- 6" wide     hiker/stock bridge that spans Agnes Creek on the Pacific Crest Trail.     An existing 39' long timber ramp provides access to the north end of the bridge.     NPS personnel will remove this ramp and replace it in kind, but modify it so that the interior timber bent (which supports the north end of the bridge) is constructed of weathering steel.     The design, fabrication and delivery of this bent is part of the contracted project.     This structure is to replace a timber truss bridge built in 1950 and destroyed by a falling tree in 2007. Because of the age and potential cultural significance of the structural elements embodied in the previous bridge it is important that the new bridge have a similar appearance to the previous structure (using weathering steel trusses instead of timber trusses).     The finished bridge location is on the Pacific Crest Trail, Agnes Creek crossing, in the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area of North Cascades National Park Service Complex.     The bridge site is approximately 10 miles from Stehekin, Washington and ? mile by trail from the Stehekin Valley Road.     There is no road or mechanized equipment access to the bridge site.     It is anticipated that NPS will use a helicopter transport the bridge components from a nearby helispot to the bridge site.     The model of helicopter to be used has not been determined, and therefore the lifting capacity is unknown. The contractor will not be responsible for transportation of the components to the bridge site, the installation of the bridge, nor the wood and timber elements (e.g. decking and railing). The contractor's work ends with the delivery of all structural components to the National Park Service in Chelan, WA.     SOLICITATION DETAILS:     This is a best value procurement open to certified HUBZone small business concerns.     The NAICS code for this project is 332312 and the small business size standard is 500 employees.     The electronic Request for Quotations will be available on approximately March 5, 2008, at www.fedbizopps.gov and http://ideasec.nbc.gov. In order to download the solicitation, interested vendors must register at     http://ideasec.nbc.gov and maintain an active registration at http://www.ccr.gov.     The Government reserves the right to cancel this solicitation.
