VISN 5 Bread
This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (Hubzone, 8(a), small, small disadvantage, service disabled veteran owned small business, or large business) relative to NAICS 311812 (size standard of 500 employees). Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this sources sought synopsis, a solicitation announcement may be published in FedBizOpps. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested offerors will have to respond to the solicitation announcement in addition to responding to this sources sought announcement. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 5, is seeking sources for a potential contract for Bread and Bread Products for the following Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC), broken down into two groups:
Group 1:

Potential offerors may quote on one or both groups. Services include delivery of bread and bread products by the contractor to the locations listed for each group above. Specific daily bread requirements are called in the day prior by each facility and delivery is required the following morning. Bread and Bakery products shall conform to the Commercial Item Descriptions A-A-20052B Bread, fresh or frozen and A-A-20284 Bagels, fresh or frozen. This requirement includes specifications for pre-sliced, individually wrapped bread and bakery products.
If you are interested, please provide the requested information as indicated below. The intended contract period will be for one year, which is to begin on November 1, 2008. Response to this notice should include company name, address, point of contact, size of business pursuant to the following questions: (1) Is your business large or small (2) If small, does your firm qualify as a small, emerging business, or small disadvantaged business? (3) If disadvantaged, specify under which disadvantaged group and if your firm is certified under Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act? (4) Is your firm a certified Hubzone firm? (5) Is your firm a woman-owned or operated business? (6) Is your firm a certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small or veteran owned small business? (7) Is your firm registered in the Central Contractor Registry? (8) Is your firm interested in quoting for both groups identified above?
Responses to this notice shall be e-mailed to Jacqueline Wolfe at Jacqueline.Wolfe2@va.gov Responses must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. EST on September 10, 2008. This notice is to assist the VA in determining sources only. A solicitation is not currently available. If a solicitation is issued it will be announced at a later date, and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. Responses to this sources sought is not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
