Description
The Contractor shall furnish three automatic self-cleaning strainers to replace duplex strainers in the raw water pipeline system at Carters Pumped Storage Facility in Chatsworth, GA. The strainers will be installed directly before a pump delivering 1800 gallons per minute of 50 degrees Fahrenheit lake water to generator coolers, turbine wear rings, and turbine shaft packing box. They are used for the continuous removal of debris from the lake water, preventing damage to these components. The strai ners shall have 10 inch 150 lb. pressure class inlet and outlet flanged connections, a one piece design straining element constructed of stainless steel with 1/8 inch slot openings, a rotating 480V 3PH 60HZ electrical motor driven backwash assembly, a nd a drain connection for backflush piping. Operating pressure will be no greater than 5 PSI so the strainer must employ some type of backwash assist to properly backwash the strainer basket. The strainer shall have fully automatic user selectable contro ls housed in a NEMA 4 electrical enclosure and include a motor starter for the backwash drive motor, indicator lights, and a differential pressure switch and backwash valve with electric actuator. The area where each strainer will be installed will acce pt a strainer no larger than 4 6 inch flange to flange, 6 5 inch in height, and 4 wide. The solicitation package will be available on or about 20 March 2008. This procurement is 100% set aside for small business. NAICS code is 333999, with a size standard of 500 employees. The solicitation will not be provided in a printed paper format, however, the Government reserves the right to revert to paper medium when it is determined to be in the Governments best interest.
