Synopsis:

The Social Security Administration intends to issue a firm-fixed priced purchase order to Wiley Interscience, Inc for an electronic subscription to include e-book titles. The content of the subscription includes medical, psychology, economics, computer, and clinical trials. The electronic subscription is an online database that is a resource for adjudicating disability claims, management development and information technology planning. Period of Performance is for a twelve (12) month period beginning September 1, 2008 through August 30, 2009. Under FAR Part 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Sources Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. This requirement is utilizing procedures in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 - Acquisition of Commercial Items, using procedures under FAR Part 13. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, but merely notification of the Government's intent to order this subscription from Wiley Interscience. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response hereto will not be honored or acknowledged. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purposes of determining whether or to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government does not intend to pay for information provided in response to this publication. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. If no affirmative responses are received within 2 business days, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1 (b)(1) negotiations will be conducted with Wiley, Interscience, Inc. as the only source and a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted.
