| Opportunity Summary |
The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) is the state agency
that implements minimum standards established by the Board on Public Safety Standards and
Training for recruitment and training of Oregon's city, county and state police,
corrections officers, parole and probation officers, fire service personnel, emergency
telecommunicators, private security providers, and private investigators.
DPSST conducts public safety training throughout Oregon and at a central academy in Salem;
certifies qualified officers at various levels from basic through executive; certifies
qualified instructors; and inspects and accredits training programs throughout the state
based on standards established by the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training.
DPSST is committed to providing the highest level of instruction to officers seeking
professional advancement in their skills related to defensive tactics. DPSST provides 80
hours of instruction in its Instructor Development Course (IDC) for defensive tactics (DT)
instructors. The intent of this course is to develop experienced officers, troopers and
deputies into competent instructors capable of teaching classroom and field skills to all
levels of public safety officers.
At this time, the Agency is seeking a contractor to provide defensive tactics training to
its defensive tactics instructors in March 2008.
The contract will be for one (1) class with the option to extend for additional classes if
service is satisfactory.
