NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

California State University Long Beach will receive sealed bid proposals at the above address until the time of the public opening as shown below. Bids are to be submitted to the Purchasing Office on the University Bid Proposal Form in a plainly marked, sealed envelope.
PROJECT TITLE: Deukmejian Way Phase II 2007/2008 BID NUMBER: 18049-SDR
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS will be available from the Office of Planning & Design Services the day of job walk for non-refundable $30.00 fee (check only).
JOB WALK DATE/TIME: Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. JOB WALK LOCATION: 1331 Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, PP&CM Conference Room.
SITE JOB WALK attendance is strongly recommended as this will be the only time the University and the Engineer of Record are available to discuss the project. Interested parties should assemble at the Office of Planning and Design Services at the address above.
BID OPENING DATE/TIME: Friday, April 18, 2008, 2:00 p.m BID OPENING LOCATION: 1250 Bellflower Blvd., LB, Purchasing Office, Brotman Hall, Room 346
BID OPENING. The bidder is responsible to see that its bid is received at the address listed above by the proper time. The University assumes no responsibility for delay in delivery of the proposal by any means or after being delivered to a campus central location.
The scope of work requires that the contractor provide all labor, tools, equipment, and materials to: 1. Demolish approximately 4,500 square feet of asphalt roadway, including curb and gutter, and approximately 1,500 square feet of concrete sidewalks. 2. Construct new roadway of same size approximately 20 feet to the west of the demolished location. 3. Construct new Pedestrian Mall (mix of concrete and brick pavers) equaling approximately 11,000 square feet. 4. Install new landscape and irrigation. 5. Install new 10 sewer main line. 6. Remove impacted underground storm drain lines and install new. 7. Install new streetlighting (both pole-mounted and bollard types). 8. Replace approximately 250 feet of 2 underground gas line piping. 9. Coldmill approximately 10,000 square feet of asphalt roadway paving (2 thick) and install new 2 asphalt cap. Restripe affected roadway.
All bidders will be required to meet the Standard Form of Questionnaire and Financial Prequalifications criteria in order to be allowed to bid on this project.
TIME OF COMPLETION: 80 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: $5,000.00 for each calendar day completion is delayed. REQUIRED LICENSE: A valid A or B license or other appropriate contractor license(s) as identified under the Contractors State License Board Rules and Regulations and approved by the University.
A 10% Bidders Bond is required for bids over $25,000.00. Payment and Performance Bonds are required on contracts over $5,000.00.
