REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)

RFI No. AS1060-12

CONCERNING: DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

Prior to releasing one or more Request For Proposals for the development and implementation of renewable energy technologies, the Hawaii Department of Transportation, Airports Division (DOTA) is seeking comments from interested parties on the different technologies available, strategic local applications of these technologies, potential economic benefits, and the viability of third party development. Additionally, the DOTA is interested in recent examples of successful system installations.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE: The DOTA plans to release one or more Request for Proposals to procure the services of a vendor to install, operate and maintain renewable energy systems for energy consumption by airports or other state facilities, or for power generation for the economic benefit of the state.

It is expected that the vendor will provide financing for the systems. Cost recovery for the vendor could be provided through a long term reimbursement agreement where the state purchases generated power as a consumer or by the sale of generated power to a local utility where the state shares in the proceeds.

FORM OF RESPONSE REQUESTED: Interested parties are requested to reply in

writing to any or all of the points stated above. Responses may be of any length and in any format elected by respondents. Responses may be sent by mail, fax, or email. The DOTA may request an in person meeting for clarification purposes.
