This Request for Information is the initiation of market research under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). The Government does not intend to pay for any information furnished pursuant to this RFI.

NAVSURFWARCENDIV Crane is requesting MARKET SURVEY information relative to a recording device used with an Electro-Optical/Infrared Gimbal system. Sources are requested to provide general system information for applicable products.

System capabilities of interest include:Ability to record digital video, analog video and audio inputs via mini USB, RCA and common coaxial connection. Ability of device to do standard recorder functions such as start, stop, pause, and fast forward via user friendly controls. The device should also be able to easily save files in a common format.Ability to accept SD card or similar solid state device and mini USB output for the recording of inputs. Device shall have an onboard clock for logging purposes recording on file.

Operational environment areas of interest:Ability to operate in rough sea state conditions and be marinized for salt water environments. Ability to operate in extreme climates ranging from 0 - 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Physical characteristics:Must not be larger than 12"x 6" x 6" in overall size. Ability to provide video playback via color display and ability for common connection to remote device such as Head mounted HUD or monitor. Device shall have dimming capability to accommodate dark environment.

Power requirements:Device will be powered by 12-32 volts DC and have a transformer to use 110 - 220 volts AC.Power supply to device should be capable of conducting all functions for 120 minutes and be able to operate uninterrupted if external power supply is lost.

Also provide budgetary rough-order of magnitude (ROM) unit pricing, reliability, interface control documentation, and any product literature that might be useful in understanding the system capabilities.
