Bids

City of Boston (City) acting by and through its Public Facilities Commission by the Director of the Department of Neighborhood Development ("the Official"), at 26 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108, hereby invites proposals from licensed, qualified architects and/or architects with a capacity in graphic design, or graphic designers to provide professional services On An As-Needed Basis for the Boston Main Streets Storefront Improvement Program and the ReStore Boston Storefront Improvement Program during the period of July 1, 2008,through June 30, 2009.

The goal of these services is to provide architectural design and/or graphic design services for either storefront improvements and/or design for new signs, awnings, logos and/or window graphics for small business owners who might not otherwise avail themselves of the services of an architect and/or graphic designer.

It is to give their storefront facades an improved physical appearance and their businesses a visual identity. Further, it is to improve the fabric and express the character of their particular business district.

Request for Proposals (RFP) packages will be available beginning on Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Department of Neighborhood Development (DND), Bid Counter, 26 Court Street, 10th Floor, Boston, MA 02108.

The deadline for submission is 4:00 P.M., May 12, 2008, at the DND, Bid Counter, 26 Court Street, 10th Floor, Boston, MA 02108.

Proposals must be clearly identified and submitted directly to the Bid Counter in accordance with the instructions in the RFP application package. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

DND may award up to six (6) contracts. The aggregate amount of the contract to be awarded will not exceed $121,000.00 for the 19 Boston Main Streets Districts and $44,500.00 for the ReStore Boston Storefront Improvement Program. Projects will be distributed across the 19 Main Streets districts, grouped by district and on an as needed, rotating basis.

For each instance of work, the vendor shall be paid on a project-by-project basis. The contract is subject to the Community Development Block Grant Terms and Conditions. The City of Boston reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or parts thereof, and to award the contract in the best interest of the City.

The City shall cancel the contract if funds are not appropriated or otherwise made available to support continuation of performance. The contract is subject to the approval of the Public Facilities Commission, and will be awarded by the Director of the Department of Neighborhood Development (the Official).
