| Texas State University is seeking competitive bids for the repairs/retubing of a Waste Heat Boiler Economizer located at the Cogeneration Plant on Campus. The Bid will include labor, materials, equipment, supervision and insurance to completely retube the ERI/Nebraska Economizer in the Co-Generation Plant, as per the following Scope of Work. € Provide 96 Cleaver Brooks/ERI/NB Economizer Tubes € Remove the outer casing/lagging at each end of the economizer € Cut the seal welded boxes off from the tube sheets at each end of the economizer € Cut and remove ninety-six tubes (existing) from the unit. € Dispose of cut out tubes € Cut off 48 elbows € Weld Prep 96 ends € Stab 96 tubes into the economizer; tack weld in place € Fit up and tack weld 144 welds to weld tubes in place € Re-install boxes from the tube sheets to each end of the economizer € Re-install the insulation and outer casing/lagging to each end of the unit € Hydrostatically test the economizer unit @ 375 psig. € Make the unit ready for service.
Background on Economizer: The detritus from the plant phased out in the economizer and the unit is totally blocked. It can be isolated from the boiler section but cannot be removed. The detritus includes diatomaceous marl, caliche, calcium, magnesium carbonates and silicates.
