ADVERTISEMENT FOR EXECUTIVE ENGINEER
UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the purpose of selecting an Executive Engineer for design of the CNSI 5th Floor IDRE Data Center (UCLA Project # 942653.01). This project is anticipated to include a pre-design phase. This RFQ is for full design and engineering services; however, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations for services other than pre-design services until completion of the pre-design phase. Final selection and appointment of the Executive Engineer is contingent upon approval by the University of California Office of the President.
Located within the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) Building on the UCLA Court of Sciences the CNSI 5th Floor IDRE (Institute for Digital Research and Education) Data Center project will involve design and engineering for the renovation of an approximately 2,600 square foot area for a high density computational research level data center. The area to be renovated is within an existing 4,300 square foot data center, and will house large computational server nodes for high performance research level computing. The current estimated construction cost is $3,400,000. The project may be subject to accelerated design and construction.
Firms submitting an RFQ response must have significant demonstrated experience in the design/retrofit of high density research level data centers, including responding to the requirements of state and federal review agencies. Experience in a research or academic environment is preferred.
The complete request for qualifications (RFQ) packet will be available at www.capital.ucla.edu/rfq.html. The RFQ packet may also be obtained by submitting a request via facsimile (fax number 310-206-8392; attn: Carol Esser) starting May 1, 2008, and authorizing use of the firm's Federal Express account for return of the packet. Responses to the RFQ are due by 4:00 p.m. on May 15, 2008. A short list of firms will be determined by a screening committee; further steps in the selection process will be at the discretion of the selection committee.
Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons, regardless of race, religion, sex, color, ethnicity, and national origin have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University.
