Synopsis:

Contractor to provide full Architect/Engineering services as required to prepare complete contract drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, including services throughout construction period for Project No. 603-08-210 Renovate Mental Health for the VA Medical Center, Louisville, Kentucky. General Statement of Work indicates complete demolition and reconstruction of a 22 bed, 9,000 GSF mental health inpatient ward. Project will also require removal of asbestos containing materials (ACM) from this ward. Upon completion the bed count will remain unchanged. Design to include the preparation of complete drawings in Autocad 2005 or newer format. The new design should conform to current standards, establish space for Gero-psych program and provide improved facilities for patients and visitors. Design is also to include preparation of detailed phasing plan/sequence of operation for minimum disruption of hospital operations. The AE team must include a certified industrial hygienist for planning of asbestos abatement throughout the project. Construction Cost range is between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000. Area of consideration is limited to a 75 mile radius of Louisville VA Medical Center. Firms desiring consideration must submit THREE copies of SF 330, not later than 2:00 PM CT, 6-23-08. This procurement will be open to both large and small businesses. NAICS 541310. Contract award is subject to the availability of VA funds. A/E Selection criteria will include: 1) Professional qualifications necessary for performance of required services; 2) specialized experience and technical competence of the A/E firm with similar type projects; 3) past performance on contracts with Government agencies; 4) Location of A/E firm; 5) experience and roles of key design personnel, specifically on related projects; 6) cost control and estimating effectiveness.
