This is a Sources Sought Announcement and is for informational purposes only. This is not a request for Proposals, Quotations or Bids. Army Contracting Agency Southern Region Contracting Ctr West desires to identify vendors capable of providing the following supplies. Beef, Carcass, Sides (quartered), Fresh, Heifers and Steers, US quality grade choice or better, yield grade 1, 2, or 3: The carcass must bear a wholesomeness stamp from the state of Texas or the USDA, or a Certificate of Conformance must be provided, stating that the facility is inspected by the state of Texas or the USDA. The carcass shall be split into two matched sides; the side is one matched forequarter and hindquarter. The forequarters and hindquarters are produced by a cut following the natural curvature between the 12the and 13th rib. It shall be split into reasonably uniform sides so that the spinal cord groove is evident on at least 75 percent of both sides of the backbone. The diaphragm and transverse abdominis muscle must remain intact and be trimmed close to the lean. The beef carcass must arrive at destination in excellent condition IAW Institutional Meat Purchase Specifications for Fresh Beef Products Series 100, dated June 1996, sectionII.A.1 and 2. In addition, beef will arrive at destination 41 F or below with no evidence of freezing. There will be no added ingredients to the beef. All interested offerors will have the opportunity to respond to solicitation announcement later. This notice is to assist the Army Contracting Center in determining potential sources only. This sources sought announcement is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.
