The City of Boston (the City), acting by its Executive Director of Boston Centers for Youth and Families, hereinafter referred to as the Official, invites sealed bids for the performance of the work generally described above, and particularly set forth in the Invitation for Bids, which may be obtained at Boston Centers for Youth & Families, 1483 Tremont Street, 4th floor, Boston, MA 02120 commencing at 10:00 a.m. Monday on June 2, 2008.
Transportation Description:
Transport up to 90 disabled and non-disabled children, 8-22 years old to and from the Camp Joy program at the Madison Park Community Center.
Transport up to 90 disabled and non-disabled children, including deaf/hearing impaired children, 3-22 years old to the Camp Joy program at the Horace Mann Community Center.
Every sealed bid shall be submitted in duplicate and in accordance with, the Invitation for Bids.
All sealed bids shall be filed no later than Wednesday June 18, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T., at the office of the Official, 1483 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02120.
The attention of all bidders is directed to the provisions of the Invitation for Bids and contract documents, specifically to the requirements for bid deposits, insurance and performance bonds as may be applicable.
A bid deposit in the form of a bid bond, or a certified check or a treasurer € s or cashier € s check on a responsible bank or trust company, payable to the City of Boston in the sum of 5 percent of the bid, shall be required from each bidder.
The successful bidder will be required to provide insurance for the payment of compensation and the furnishing of other benefits under the Workermen € s Compensation Law, General Laws (Ter. Ed.), Chapter 152, to all persons to be employed under the contract and proof of compliance with the foregoing stipulation will be required before commencing performance of this contract.
The successful bidder will also be required to maintain bodily injury coverage of not less than one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) and property damage insurance in the amount not less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).
The successful bidder will be required to provide a performance bond from a surety company qualified to do business under the laws of the Commonwealth, or a certified check or treasurer € s or cashier € s check, payable to the City of Boston for 25 percent of the bid amount.
A performance bond, which includes a provision that a suit for breach of the conditions of the bond must be brought within a specified time, is unacceptable.
The Official shall open sealed bids to the public on Friday, June 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T., at Boston Centers for Youth and Families Administrative Offices, 1483 Tremont Street, 4th floor, Boston, MA 02120.
The award of any contract shall be subject to the approval of the Mayor of Boston and the Awarding Authority. The maximum time for bid acceptance by the City after the opening of bids shall be ninety (90) days. The City/County and the Official reserve the right to reject any or all bids, or any item or items thereof.
