Synopsis:

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD)intends to negotiate a sole-source procurement with the Massachusets Institute of Technology (MIT), Lexington, MA. The contractor, MIT, will provide engineering support and services in the investigation of zero wave resistance hull design. MIT, under the office of Mechanical and Ocean Engineering, will provide research support on marine hydrodynamics relative to ship, offshore platform, and underwater vehicle design.
The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(i)(A) using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
